Looking to become a member of the oldest Italian society in America? Benvenuto!

The Garibaldina Society is a social benefit organization for the promotion of Italian culture in the community and charitable giving. 

We are delighted you are interested in membership in our Italian society. We have been serving the Los Angeles Italian community since 1877!

Grazie in advance for your patience as we have experienced a high volume of interest in our historic society and our volunteer membership committee is doing their best. We are growing at an exponential pace and we are trying to keep up with all the messages.

Membership Process

  1. Come to our public events

  2. Meet members

  3. Befriend a member who will be your sponsor

  4. Befriend two more members to sign for you

  5. Apply online

  6. Get an interview scheduled with the Membership Qualification Committee

  7. Pass the interview with your impressive passion for Italian culture and willingness to serve our community

  8. Membership votes for new vetted applications monthly at the general membership meeting

  9. You get an email letting you know the membership voted in favor of your application

  10. Pay annual pro rated dues

  11. Pay one time membership fee

  12. Attend the first Tuesday membership meeting where you are sworn into our society

If you are interested in joining our Italian society, please keep coming to public events so that you can meet members and eventually develop a relationship with a member in good standing to be your sponsor.

You will need one member to be a sponsor and two members to be signatories on your application. You will also need to write an essay about your interest in La Società Garibaldina di Mutua Beneficenza.

Member Initiation fee

  • $200 one time payment

2024 Annual dues

  • $120 under age 75

  • $75 over age 75
