The Inaugural 501(c)(3) Founders Campaign & 2nd Annual Sponsor-A-Seat

Since 1877, the Garibaldina Society has promoted connection and community through education, celebration, and preservation of Italian and Italian American culture in Los Angeles. As the oldest active Italian society in America, we welcome the whole neighborhood into our 1960s hall on North Figueroa Street. Each month, hundreds of guests, most of them non-members, join us for Pasta Platter dinners, Sunday La Famiglia dinners, Italian language classes, author talks, and cultural programs. We are also home to the only indoor bocce court in Los Angeles County.

We share our historic hall with the wider community, providing space, staff, and volunteers to local schools, arts organizations, film festivals, and civic groups. After the 2025 Los Angeles fires, our membership partnered with local disaster relief organizations to cook meals for first responders and affected neighbors.

Why We’re Raising Funds

Everything we do happens in this building, so it must be safe, dry, and accessible to everyone. This year, we replaced the roofs over our history room and bocce court ahead of the winter rains, and we are still raising funds to pay for them. Your gift also helps us complete our ADA-compliant parking lot and update our plumbing, so every guest, including the elders who have been part of our community for decades, can come through our doors. Our 2026–2030 Strategic Plan aims to raise and invest $1 million in capital maintenance by 2030.

Our First Year as a 501(c)(3)

In 2026, the Garibaldina Society became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN 95-6868145), a new chapter for an organization that has served Los Angeles for generations. Contributions to the Garibaldina Society are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law, and every donor to this campaign will be permanently recorded in our archives as an Inaugural 501(c)(3) Founding Supporter.
